Information about the Tinnitus Therapy Centre

The Tinnitus Therapy Centres in Düsseldorf and Krefeld have been engaged since 1994 in the treatment of patients with subacute and/or chronic tinnitus, that means patients by whom, unfortunately, all orthodox medical measures have not brought the desired treatment results. The outcome of our research is the

"KREFELDER MODELL"

a 9-day outpatient short-term therapy, which is exemplary in Germany. By means of several strategies from the fields of psychology and psychoacoustics an habituation is achieved, which, with our patients, results in a clear reduction in the disturbance through tinnitus (studies of the Universities of Düsseldorf/Göttingen/Witten-Herdecke), culminating in the complete disappearence of the symptoms. Resulting likewise in a definite improvement in the quality of life.

Commendations

Our extraordinarily good treatment results are not only confirmed again and again by patients, but can also be underpinned by scientific studies carried out by the Universities of Düsseldorf/Göttingen (Prof. Kröner-Herwig), University of Witten-Herdecke (Dr. Kusatz).

The results found recognition as well by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, North-Rhine Westfalia, in that the Minister for Health gave special recognition and offered his congratulations to the TTC and the TTC was accepted into the project network, "Gesundes Nordrhein-Westfalen" ("Healthy North-Rhine Westfalia") in 1997.

In March 1999 the jury of the Berlin Health Prize gave its special recognition for the short-term outpatient therapy for subacute and chronic tinnitus developed and successfully carried out over many years by theTTC.
